After its early success on iOS and then on the Android OS, the popular news aggregator named Flipboard is now available on the Microsoft Windows platform for the first time. The Windows 8.1 update is now available in the Windows Store and it will work in both Windows 8 OS and Windows RT. As with the company’s iOS and Android apps, the readers will find that the conventional controls are still in their place. The users will still be able to flip through magazines, subscribe, and then add content to the magazines.
This is where the familiarity ends. This is because the new app has been slightly tweaked to match with the Windows 8 platform. For instance, the users will now need to swipe from the bottom of the screen to display the action icons like Subscribe, Edit, Refresh, and Flip It. Swiping down will present the recommended users to follow magazines from the other contributors. Above all, this app offers split screen support and gives the users the opportunity to resize the windows. This offers multitasking as well as support for the Live Tiles. The tech world hopes that the launch of Flipboard on the Windows 8.1 will boost the sales of the Windows 8.1 platform.
